Summary
Software Engineer.
Adeline has spent more than 20 years making software work under real constraints: complex data, tight performance budgets, unfamiliar hardware, production deadlines and users who need the tool to be ready when they are.
Her professional work has ranged from Java/Spring services and geometry processing for construction estimating to Unreal Engine pipelines for broadcast production. She has built backend platform services for the NZ Herald and The Listener, the Octane renderer plugin for Unreal, rehabilitation games connected to Bluetooth hardware, and real-time 3D systems for browser and desktop. She also originated the outline technique behind Advanced Cel Shader, maintained it as a commercial product, and later sold it to Epic Games.
Poppy and Buddy is a separate line of work: a bilingual children's title spanning published books, a companion app, original animation and narration, and a QR-linked read-along system. She owns the whole product, so the engineering, design, content and release decisions are all hers to make.
Adeline's current personal project is Nova, a self-hosted Smart Home Control Surface used in her household. It brings lighting, climate, reminders, energy data and local voice control into one interface across a wall kiosk, browsers and Apple TV. It runs in her house every day, so it has to keep working after each development session ends, not just during it.
She uses coding agents daily and has built local tooling around them: sandboxing, model routing, progress monitoring and host-side verification. She writes the brief, sets the boundaries, reviews the output, and runs the tests. She moves between product detail and low-level diagnosis, and states plainly when a design needs to change.

Nova — Smart Home Control Surface
One consistent interface for lighting, climate, reminders,
energy and media across a wall kiosk, browsers and a native Apple TV app. Its
room-aware voice assistant runs locally. The open-source framework is installed
and extended by the user's existing frontier coding agent around the household's
actual devices and available hardware; Nova does not bundle its own agent.

Advanced Cel Shader
An outline and edge-detection shader for Unreal. Adeline
worked out the technique on her own time, built it into a package other developers
could drop into a project, and sold and supported it on the Marketplace from 2014.
Epic Games later acquired it.

Construction geometry engine
Backend geometry at Donovan Group, split evenly across
uTecture (residential) and AirBuildr (commercial metal buildings): a plan goes in,
a 3D model comes out, and the model is measured against a materials database to
price the build. Adeline worked on polygon triangulation, 3D shape handling and
automatic floor-plan generation, plus the pipeline performance work, the automated
tests and production bugs.

Teletubbies Let's Go — virtual production
Lead developer on Unreal for the broadcast series and for
the American Girl YouTube series. She built the virtual-production pipelines and the
AR/VR work, and ran a distributed team of artists and developers.

NZ Herald & The Listener
Backend platform work on both mastheads' websites: PHP
services, the paywall, automated wire-feed publishing from Reuters, and the database
— MongoDB and MySQL across a 300+ table schema — underneath both.

Octane for Unreal Engine
The Octane renderer plugin for Unreal Engine —
getting a GPU path tracer and a real-time engine to agree on materials and scene
data. Used for games, architectural visualisation and VR.
